Research has shown that just the smell of coffee could very well be enough to wake you up. The aroma of roasted coffee beans can reduce anxiety – and that just the whiff could be enough to alleviate the stress caused by a poor night’s sleep on the brain. The smell of coffee was so significant that lack of it once greatly affected the biggest coffee house chain. A few years ago Starbucks faced a company-wide decline because the smell of the breakfast sandwiches overpowered the coffee smell in the stores. CEO Howard Schultz decided to eliminate the sandwiches from the menu until they were able to reformulate and bake them at a lower temperature. Isn’t it about time to wake up and smell the coffee?
